The Pastel Colors of Spring Flowers

Here at Adrian Durban Florist, Cincinnati’s premier flower shop, we love the pastel colors of Spring! Pastels are associated with Easter and Mother’s Day and represent a refreshing new beginning. We love working with pastels and are excited to showcase some of our favorite pastel floral beauties.

Why We Love Pastels

Spring, Easter, Mother’s Day…. these are holidays which typically favor pastel colors. Why? Because pastels are a gentle nudge into the brighter colors of summers. Pastels are a soft, subtle transition from the dark and intense colors of fall and winter into the bright and vibrant colors we see in June and July. It’s a reminder that the snow has started to melt, plants and flowers are beginning to come to life, baby chicks are popping up, and Mother Nature is letting us know the harsh weather has passed and it’s time to go outside again.

The joyful and pleasant peach rose symbolizes genuine feelings, thanks, and sincerity. The peach rose is popular in arrangements sent to friends or people you care deeply due to their signifying feelings of warmth, friendship, and caring.

Pink Wax Flower

Purple Wax Flower

The lovely pale pink and purple color of the wax flower and its multiple blooms makes it a popular filler flower in arrangements.  As a symbol of good fortune, long-lasting love, and happiness, it is a flower commonly seen in wedding bouquets as well.

Lavender Roses

The striking beauty of a lavender rose is what makes it so special. Popular but not often seen, an arrangement of lavender roses alone is quite memorable. The color purple is associated with royalty and shades of lavender also carry a note of regal majesty and splendor. Enchanted lovers would also use the lavender rose as a symbol of their love and adoration.

pink yellow and peach carnations

Carnations

Revered in Ancient Greece and Rome, the carnation is a divine flower whose scientific name means “flower of the gods.”  In general, the carnation flower means fascination and love, and as they come in a wide array of colors, each one also has its own symbolism. For example, pink carnations represent gratitude and thanks and purple carnations mean whimsy and emotional.
